Reaping

If you want to really mess up a boy, teach him how to be a man. Teach him to be tough and how not to feel. Teach him with your anger. Teach him to act and behave like a man. Teach him that there is nothing anywhere below God’s big sky more horrible than shame. Teach him how to be a man. He’ll grow up to hate you and he’ll grow up to be just like you. And when he is grown, he will have still that broken little boy stuck deep inside his big man body. He will feel big things moving and pressing around inside him, not one of which he can name.
